HIP HOP 5 Latency with recording

I have reached 999 samples and cannot save anymore.
The limit is 999 samples. If you delete some of the recordings it may start working again. The files are stored in the "RECSAV" folder in the installation directory. Please copy some files to a backup folder to reduce the number stored.

Will my Intel Celeron/ AMD Duron also be sufficient?
Yes, but add another 100-150 MHz to fulfil the necessary system requirements – e.g. an AMD Duron 700 MHz should yield approximately the same performance as an AMD Athlon 600 Mhz.

Will the programme still function properly if my RAM doesn’t fulfil the system requirements?
No. Basically the programme will install, and can also be started. The programme will react sluggishly and dropouts should be audible when playing mixes.

How do I know that my video card is openGL compatible?
Most cards built and sold after 1997 are fully openGL compatible. For a list check the file “About GL setup” in the folder “GL_setup_Hip Hop 5” on CD1 of Hip Hop eJay 5, or for the latest list – go online and check this link:

http://www.opengl.org/users/apps_hardware/accelerators.html

The list displays my video card as openGL compatible, but Hip Hop eJay 5 only runs at one frame per second, what should I do?
No problem – your card might be compatible, but your drivers aren’t. Here is how to update them:
If you are running Windows 98/ME, just open the folder “GL_setup_Hip Hop 5” on CD1 of Hip Hop eJay 5 and run the “glsetup.121.exe” executable. Just follow the displayed instructions. Your card should be automatically detected and the proper drivers installed.

If you are running Windows 2000/XP, check your graphic card vendor’s website for the latest drivers.

How do I know that my sound card is 100% DirectX compatible?
Practically all consumer cards sold are 100% DirectX compatible. If you are not sure, here is how to test:

Open “Start” on the desktop > “run” > type the letters “dxdiag” > screen will flicker >select “sound” and press the “Test direct sound” button – the results will be displayed immediately after the test is finished.

Can I use two soundcards at the same time?
This is theoretically possible, but many systems get quite instable when more than one soundcard is active. If you have two soundcards, one on-board (AC97 or C-Media) and one ISA or PCI card, it is strongly suggested that one is deactivated. The easiest and safest way is simply deactivate the on-board card in Windows, here is > “System” > “Device Manager” > select the card to be deactivated and deactivate the card in the “settings” or use the right mouse key.

Will Hip Hop eJay 5 run on my laptop?
YES, if your laptop fulfils the system requirements.

Is a Hip Hop eJay 5 version planned for MAC OS?
Sorry, but not at this point in time.

Can I create a music CD filled with the songs I created using Hip Hop eJay 5?
Yes, the songs created with Hip Hop eJay 5 can be exported as standard 16bit 44.1 KHz wave files. These files can be used to create a standard music CD with the burning software of your choice. Hip Hop eJay 5 is not capable of burning CDs.

Are the mixes created with Hip Hop 5 eJay 4 compatible to earlier versions of Hip Hop eJay?
No. Due to the entirely new technology and mix file formats Hip Hop eJay 5 mixes can not be loaded by other Hip Hop eJay versions.

Can mixes created in earlier versions of Hip Hop eJay be loaded with Hip Hop eJay 5?
No. Due to the entirely new technology and mix file formats Hip Hop eJay 5 can not load mixes created in earlier Hip Hop eJay versions.

Can I use the samples from earlier Hip Hop Versions in Hip Hop eJay 5? How do I make this possible?
No. Due to the entirely new technology and mix file formats Hip Hop 5 eJay 4 can not load samples from earlier Hip Hop eJay versions.

Can Hip Hop eJay 5 import stereo samples?
Yes. This was not possible in earlier versions of Hip Hop eJay. Each track in the Hip Hop eJay 5 Arranger can play stereo samples.

Does Hip Hop eJay 5 audio work in real time?
Yes. All track effects, track volumes, solo/mute can be used in real time. This was not possible in earlier Hip Hop eJay versions.

How many samples are included with Hip Hop eJay 5?
Approximately 4000 samples are included with Hip Hop eJay 5.

Does CD2 always need to be in the CD ROM when I use the programme, even if I carried out a full installation?
Yes. The CD check is still necessary. Please insert CD2 before starting the programme.

I fulfil all Hardware specs, but when I start the programme I get an empty white box on a black background that displays a message that the vids:MPG4 video decompression codec could not be found. After that the programme loads fine. What am I doing wrong?
Nothing at all, both PC and programme are fully functional – you are presumably running a somewhat older version of the Microsoft Media Player on your system. You can download an updated version free of charge from the official Microsoft website, or - if you are running Windows 98 or higher, go online and use the automatic update function in the windows Start menu. After that you should be able to play the intro videos properly.

When I installed the software I received a message box reporting a codepage error (language conflict) in the ASF.DLL – what should I do?
Just choose to keep the original version, simply click the button in the message box that displays “keep”.

Can I save my Hyper Generator sequence (several bars in length) as a single sample?
No, this is not possible. Hip Hop eJay 5 saves your sequence in samples one bar in length. Then you have the flexibility of combining and rearranging your sequences.

I cannot find my exported mix in the "My Music" folder? Where is the exported file saved?
Hip Hop eJay 5 saves your exported music to the "MIXWAVES" in your installatiojn directory.

Why can't I find a sample that I have imported?
This sample is either an MP3 or does not comply to the WAVE standard of 16bit 44.1 KHz.

Why can't I grab music from audio CDs?
You have to activate digital playback on your CD ROM drive. Do the following:
Go to the Windows Control Panel (START -> SETTINGS -> CONTROL PANEL)

--> Open System Properties

--> Select Hardware Tab

--> Select the Device Manager

--> Go to DVD/CD-Rom drives

--> View Properties of your CD-Rom device

--> Select the Properties Tab

--> Enable digital CD audio

You also have to connect your CD drive to the sound card with a digital audio cable. The manual for the CD drive or sound card will give you additional information about this.

The setup stops during the installation of the 2nd Hip Hop 5 CD.
Place the 1st CD of Hip Hop 5 in your drive and start the installation again.

I recorded my voice with a microphone but I can hear the main mix as an echo in the background. How I can avoid this effect?
You should use headphones to listen to the mix and record your voice with a microphone. If you listen to the mix over the loudspeakers the microphone will record the mix as well as your voice, producing an echo effect.

There is latency during the keyboard recording in the Groove Generator. Why?
Unfortunately the realtime-engine causes minor latency.

After I started Hip Hop 5 the main screen looks strange (white or black textures or a view of the windows explorer) and I canÒ‘t work with the software.
Close the program via the Windows Task Manager. Then set the color depth of your display settings to 16bit color. The above problem can happen if the settings are set to 24bit or 32 bit.

In the Scratch Generator module not all of the curves are be affected by the FLIP-ALL option.
The curves with a linear 45 degree trend means that this files will played unaltered – only the non-linear curves will altered by the FLIPP-ALL option.

I have only one voice in the VOICE GENERATOR.
It seems that the other voices were not registered. Please start the executable in the folder VOICEPACKS/English on the 2nd CD of Hip Hop 5 and the other voices will be installed.

I have a Pro-Level Soundcard installed on my PC and are experiencing sound issues with ejay software?
Pro-Level Soundcards use special DirectX drivers which cannot be used by some of the ejay products.
For example we have found that the MARC Marian 88 and M-Audio 1010LT can cause issues regarding samples and playback of mixes.

The issues that you can experience vary but we have listed the most common below.

1. Background Noise

2. You can experience samples / mixes being played
2 - 4 times faster.

3. distorted Sound.

4. No Sound.
